Beth Jacobsen is the dynamic, innovative, and passionate person behind her School of Dance. Starting out in the front porch studio in her childhood home, she has found the perfect home for the studio in Oreland. Beth loves NYC for its art influence, but loves to give back to the community that supports her business.
The studio is a local, family-friendly school that prides itself on providing a quality dance experience for all children, teens and adults. They are proud to note that they have teachers who not only perform professionally in the Philadelphia area, but are also well-educated with degrees in dance.
Below are questions we asked of Beth, and her responses:
What is the history of the school?
I started my business in the porch of my childhood home which my father converted into a studio space. It included a fireplace which provided heat for my dancers.
Why should people register for your classes?
It feels like home here, and at the same time our students get the very best dance education. As soon as they walk in the door, they will feel the same passion and caring that we have for dance.
Are there any special events, programs or classes that you offer?
We have Zumbathons and offer master classes with instructors that come from as far as New York, The Arts Capital. We feel strongly in giving back to the community and perform locally at nursing homes and community fairs. We also offer birthday parties, Black Friday Babysitting, and have choreographed many memorable wedding dances for bridal parties and mother/groom dances.
Have your dancers been featured, or performed, anywhere outside of the school?
We have performed at Sixers games, Philadelphia Wings games, and on Good Day Live.
Why did you choose to have your business in Oreland?
We love the town feeling of Oreland. My studio has found the perfect home.
How many employees do you have?
Including myself, I have 8 teachers and 2 office staff.
Are there employment or volunteer opportunities with your business?
We love to offer students new opportunities with new teachers. We also like to offer workshops for our students to grow.
