Local Gymnast, Maia Curry, Moves on to Junior Olympic Eastern National Championships

MaiaCurryJunior Spartan, Maia Curry, devotes much of her free time training in gymnastics. Her hard work and dedication have really paid off this year. Curry qualified for the USAG Regional Championships in March, and competed on Sunday, April 6th.

Each gymnast competes in four events, and then scores from all four are combined for an all-around score. With a score of 9.7, Maia placed first in the vault and her 9.625 in the bars also earned her a first place finish. She took third in the beam (9.350) and eighth in the floor competition (8.90). Her four events combined placed her second in the all-around.

Gymnasts that finish in the top six move on to compete in the Junior Olympic Eastern National Championships. This event takes place in early May in Tampa, Florida. The Spartan community wishes Maia the best and continued success.
