Stone receives Maxwell Award

Ron Jaworski, Maxwell Football Club President, announced the 2014 Mini Max High School Award winners for the state of Pennsylvania. The sixty-one players selected are from schools located in Districts 1,3,11 and 12 in the eastern half of the state. Players were nominated by their coaches throughout the 2014 season and were evaluated based on a criteria that includes; football performance, academics, and community service. STHS is very proud to announce that one of these sixty-one players to earn this recognition is Spartan senior, Chris Stone. Chris played quarterback and defensive back on the football team, and has also been a decorated athlete in track and field. Chris recently committed to Auburn as a track and field student athlete. Tara Murphy

Murphy Named to the AA All-State Team

Field hockey senior, Tara Murphy, has been selected to the Pennsylvania AA All-State Team. Tara joined STHS as a junior and was an integral part of the Spartans’ 2014 post season push. She intends to continue her field hockey career next year in college. As an underclassman, Tara made a commitment to play field hockey at American University, located in Washington D.C.

Singers Qualify for Regionals

Sophomore Spartan Alissa Kerr and senior Spartan Sean Ellis participated in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 11 Choral Festival, co-hosted by Abington and Springfield on January 22nd and 23rd.  Both students auditioned for and earned spots in the PMEA Region VI Choral festival (February 26th – 28th) where they will have the opportunity to compete for the PA State-level Honors Chorus.  The Region VI festival will be held at Marple Newtown High School on February 28th.

SpartanCheerleadersCheerleaders Take Fourth

At the Central Bucks East Cheerleading Challenge, Springfield Township High School’s cheerleading squad represented the school and the community quite well. The Spartan cheerleaders performed a tight and clean routine that earned them a fourth place trophy. STHS is proud of this accomplishment and recognizes the time and effort placed into preparing for this event. The team is led by Coach Deb Buckley and Coach Catherine Phillips. They were also mentored by Coach Lauren Counterman throughout the year.
